Hi, I record church sermons on audio and video. The hardware I use to record and capture the video is the Hauppauge HD-PVR, together with the Hauppauge Capture Module. The signal is passed through my laptop into an exterior hard-drive, from where, when time permits, I edit the video before publishing it on the Internet. My laptop is a Sony Vaio VPCEC3SOE - 64bit. Since upgrading from Windows 7 to Windows 10 Home version the capture module has not been able to display the video at all. Troubleshooting the issue directly with Hauppauge, their technician, after several remote attempts investigate all the hardware and software involved, has told me that the problem does not lie with the Hauppauge HD-PVR, or the software, which are working as they should, but it seems to be that the 'EVR Enhanced Video Render' function within Windows 10 itself is 'broken' and not functioning correctly.
Is this an issue that has already been reported? I would be grateful for your thoughts on the above, and whether it is possible to fix it for a future upgrade. Regards, Alan S. Flint Derbyshire, United Kingdom. Hi, Thank you for posting in Microsoft Community. Appreciate your interest in Windows 10. I understand your concern be rest assured, we will certainly help you.
I would suggest you to install the drivers in compatible mode and check and also download and install the graphics and video display drivers from the manufacturer's site and check. You may refer to the below mentioned link by Andrea Da Costa for assistance on how to download and install drivers in Windows 10 How to download drivers in Windows 10 Update the hardware's device driver through. Update the device drivers from the vendor's website.
Section 'Video Renderer' Overlay, VMR7, VMR9 or EVR: Specifies the video renderer to be used. The video renderer is a software interface to your display adapter. Changes take effect after restarting the application. Use hardware acceleration when possible: If enabled, the hardware acceleration, that newer display adapters offer, is used. Use WinTV v8 Video Renderer settings to optimize graphics performance:The Video Renderer is found in the General tab of WinTV v8, and is used to change the display mode of a graphics card for TV watching. This setting does not affect any other Windows program. The default mode isEVR. The other modes are VMR9, VMR7 and Overlay.
Follow their installation or update instructions. If the device was preinstalled on the computer, and the computer manufacturer does not have an updated driver for the device, visit the device manufacturer's website. Note Make sure that the device drivers that are being installed are compatible with your current Windows version and platform. Hope this helps.
Let us know the results. Hello again, Sorry to have not replied to your last post, but I forwarded a copy of your response (with suggested link) and have not yet had a reply from the Hauppauge Technical Engineer, maybe he is on holiday? I know that he made a number of changes to the configuration using a 'remote access' programme, but even so I still cannot record any videos such that I can monitor them in the Capture Module window during recording. The fact of the matter is this, that whatever I am trying to record is evidently being recorded, but not displayed during the recording process. However, when I select the 'recorded' video from the destination drive, it does play back.
In black and white! There is also a mere second of sound, and then the sound disappears. As things stand it is impossible to succesfully record anything, which is a great shame, and a major disappointment. Everything work absolutely perfectly in Windows 7, but not as yet in Windows 10. As I reported previously, the Hauppauge engineer was quite confident, after trying a number of different things, that the 'problem' lay, as he said, with the EVR - Enhanced Video Recorder element in Windows 10. He said that this issue had also been reported by another user of the Hauppauge HD-PVR, and associated Capture Module.
I am grateful for your interest in my problem, and should you have any further advice or suggestions I would me most grateful. I will have to contact Hauppauge again early next week. Regards, Alan. Regards, Alan I have the same problem using a Hauppauge HD PVR and Hauppauge Capture. I also tried Arcsoft Total Media Extreme 2 with the HD PVR. No video from win 10 using the products. Bruce Gengler.
Hi, Many thanks Bruce for getting in touch. I confess that I am still incredibly frustrated that I am unable to successfully record Video using the Hauppauge HD-PVR now that I have updated to Windows 10. Apart from that I am happy with Windows 10, but presently the Hauppauge Technical Support are convinced that the problem lies in the Enhanced Video Recorder that is part of Windows 10. Everything worked fine in Windows 7, but as soon as I tried using Windows 10 it was a no go. I have spoken several times to Hauppauge and they have used a piece of remote access software to check out my system, and despite trying a number of things they could not get everything to work as it did before. As I said they are confident that the difficulty lies in the EVR built into Windows 10.
In one way I am pleased that you have joined the discussion, because that reveals that it is not just me. It is quite useful therefore that you have informed me that you have tried the Arcsoft Total Extreme software, and that also is unable to yield a successful recording, so it's not just the HD-PVR that is affected. What would I like, well, namely someone from Microsoft to pick up this issue and dialogue with us. Nothing else that uses a component feed seems to do the job like the HD-PVR, but there must be a solution somewhere. So Microsoft what do you say, Bruce and I need your help?
Regards, Alan.
